Wandering through Italy 

Five regions. Five specialties. One evening that takes you from the south of Italy all the way to the north. 

At Piazza Ristorante, we love Italian cuisine — and that’s why we know Italy is not just about pasta and pizza. It’s a land of diverse regions, flavors and traditions. Sicily tastes different from Lombardy, and Campania has little in common with Calabria. This time, we’d like to invite you on a little journey. No plane tickets, no luggage. Just come with an appetite. 

Sicily – Poached prawns with seafood bisque and chili 

We begin far in the south. You can feel the warm evening air, hear the sea in the distance, maybe even the strum of a guitar. On your plate: tender prawns, a creamy seafood bisque, and a touch of peperoncino that sparks on your tongue. 

Lombardy – Pork tenderloin wrapped in Lardo with beetroot and raspberry purée 

From the south, we jump up north to Lombardy. We wrap our pork tenderloin in Lardo, the soft, aromatic Italian cured fat that melts beautifully as it cooks. On the side, smooth beetroot purée and a few raspberries that give the dish a pleasant sweet-and-sour lift. 

Campania – Tomato risotto with grilled octopus and fried calamari 

Campania smells of tomatoes, garlic, and the sea. And that’s exactly what this next dish tastes like. Creamy tomato risotto, grilled octopus, and crispy calamari. With every bite, you’ll feel like you’re on holiday — even if you’ve never set foot in Italy. 

Calabria – Salad with prawns, strawberries, zucchini, hazelnuts and strawberry dressing 

Now something a bit lighter, a little unexpected — and completely delicious. Juicy prawns pair surprisingly well with sweet strawberries, thin slices of zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and toasted hazelnuts. All topped with a delicate strawberry vinaigrette. Sweet, salty, tangy, crunchy — it’s all there. Calabria has spirit, and so does this salad. 

Veneto – Limoncello Sgroppino 

And finally, a playful drink. Lemon sorbet, prosecco and limoncello — a combination made for sipping on hot summer days, whether you’re in Italy or right here in Brno.
